Temporary Delivery Surcharge during the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics

As you may be aware, the Summer Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024. This prestigious event will bring excitement and pride to our city, but it will also result in significant logistical challenges due to extensive road closures and restricted areas throughout Paris.

Impact on Deliveries

In preparation for and during the Olympics, several major roads and entire districts in Paris will be temporarily inaccessible. These restrictions are necessary to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the games but will inevitably cause disruptions to our regular delivery schedules and routes.

Introduction of a Temporary Delivery Surcharge

To address the increased operational costs and complexities during this period, we are introducing a temporary delivery surcharge of 65 DKK per shipment. The surcharge will show on your invoice as “Seasonal Surcharge” and will be in effect from July 1 to August 31, 2024, encompassing the peak preparation and event days.

The surcharge applies to shipments to the postal codes 75, 77, 78, 91, 92, 93, 94 and 95.

Justification for the Surcharge

1. Increased Transportation Costs: Detours and longer routes will result in higher fuel consumption and additional vehicle wear and tear.
2. Extended Delivery Times: Anticipated delays will necessitate additional labor hours to ensure timely deliveries.
3. Additional Resources: To maintain our high service standards, we will deploy extra personnel and vehicles to navigate the restricted areas efficiently.
