Important updates regarding the clearance of your shipments

November 02, 2024

Dear Valued Customers,

We’d like to inform you of some important updates regarding the clearance of your shipments. Please be aware that if we do not receive the necessary paperwork within six days of our first notification, your shipment will be returned to the sender.

In case the sender has not settled duties and taxes for the shipment, the recipient is required to pay the DHL Express Customs fees. These shipments are subject to fixed fees, excluding Customs Duties and Value Added Taxes (VAT). These fees apply to DTU Shipments (Duties and Taxes Unpaid). For DTP Shipments (Duties and Taxes Paid), all fees will be charged to the payer's account.

Effective November 2nd, 2024, we will implement customs declaration service charges in United States Dollars as per the link below. However, for your convenience, you will continue to settle your payments in Egyptian Pounds noting that the amount will be calculated based on the Central Bank of Egypt published rates from the invoicing date.

Here is a breakdown of the fees:

  • Non-Routine Entry: 13 USD per Shipment.
  • Bonded Storage: 1 USD per Shipment per Day Plus 0.12 per KG per Day after 3 calendar Days.
  • Permits and Licenses: 6.60 USD per Shipment.
  • Duty Tax Processing: 5 USD or 2% of the fiscal charge, if higher
  • Release to Broker: 13 USD per Shipment.
  • Bonded Transit: 11 USD per Shipment.

Please note that duties, taxes & DHL clearance fees will be applicable when necessary.

As per international mail agreements, in case the required documents for customs clearance are not provided, or if the consignee cannot be reached due to incorrect/insufficient details, the shipment could be returned to the country of origin within the legal period (15 days from the arrival date). Alternatively, the Egyptian Customs laws for abandoned shipments will be followed.

Effective from July 1st, 2023, all importers are required to register their imported products with the Egyptian Tax Authority to avoid any shipment customs clearance delays. This applies to all Business to Business (B2B) shipments requiring formal customs clearance. For information on product registration, please visit https://invoicing.eta.gov.eg/.

In case of a change of consignee, a letter from your supplier confirming the error and providing the new customer’s details is required. Please note that a change of consignee customs penalty of EGP 30,000 will apply.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Best regards,
