With climate change progressing at an alarmingly fast pace, bold sustainability statements are inspiring but simply not enough. We need to see real action. That’s why at DHL Group, we embedded sustainability in our business early and have now made it a cornerstone of our new company strategy. Read on to learn why “Green Logistics of Choice” is much more than a bold statement – it’s our new bottom line.

Making sustainability part of our business

We recently announced our Strategy 2030 – Accelerate Sustainable Growth. Our new strategy not only aims to grow our revenue and unlock our full potential, it also makes decarbonization and sustainability a fundamental part of our business. The aspiration to be “Green Logistics of Choice” is now our fourth Group bottom line.

What does that mean? The answer is that while we work to reduce our absolute C0₂e emissions to 29 million metric tons in 2030 and to net zero by 2050, we’re making it our business to help our customers decarbonize their supply chains to the greatest extend possible.

The bonus is that we gain shares in this dynamic market and capitalize on growth opportunities.

Green Logistics of Choice

Embracing the challenge of decarbonization

As the world’s leading logistics company, we understand our responsibility to the planet. But we also get that making logistics more sustainable is a big challenge. Everyone knows that transportation pollutes – it’s a carbon-intensive business. That’s why we need new solutions – new resources and technologies – to reduce our industry’s dependence on fossil fuels while maintaining service quality and efficiency.

“Green Logistics of Choice” puts sustainability at the core of our Group Strategy. It means that we are embracing the challenge of decarbonizing our business while helping our customers do the same.

And it’s so much more than four words. It’s backed by real action to ensure we remain the front-runner in low-carbon logistics:

  • Continuously finding, testing, and deploying the most viable solutions – like our growing sustainable fleet.
  • Making a special effort to decarbonize aviation because it makes up a high share of our Group’s emissions.
  • Investing ahead of the curve, specifically to provide suppliers with the confidence to innovate and scale solutions.
  • Making it a high priority to increase our premium, low-emission products and services.
