Read how we’re working closer with Neste to explore how the company’s renewable solutions can help us reduce logistics emissions and achieve our decarbonization goals.
Fueling the transition to low-emission logistics
Together with Neste, the world’s leading producer of sustainable fuels, we’re taking a hard look at how we can leverage renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to decarbonize our air and road transportation services. The plan is to develop an innovative model for acquiring SAF while exploring the use of renewable diesel in road transportation operations.
No progress without partners
We have big goals and need partners to help us achieve them. For example, we aim to electrify two-thirds of our last-mile fleet and increase the share of sustainable fuels in our transport operations to 30% by 2030. Neste will help us get there by working with us to develop a commercial model that would gradually lead to the off-take of around 300,000 tons of “neat” or unblended SAF per year from them. The collaboration will also explore how using renewable diesel, or HVO100, can support our decarbonization goals in road transport.
A longstanding partnership with a shared vision
DHL and Neste have collaborated for several years as part of our joint effort to drive up demand for SAF. In 2022, we signed deals with Neste and bp to buy over 800 million liters of SAF, two of the largest SAF deals to date. We also supported the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC), which enables credible emissions reduction reporting. Together, we want to develop solutions that support our sustainability goals and those of our customers.
