DHL GLOBAL FORWARDING EMPLOYEES RAISE OVER €3K FOR ASIAM
Press Release: Dublin, July 26, 2022
- Employees within the Ocean Freight Department set out on a 5K hike for a charitable cause.
- An event instilling some internal teamwork whilst raising Autism awareness.
Representatives from DHL Global Forwarding Ireland presented a cheque to the value of €3,130 to AsIAm, Ireland's National Autism Charity.
OFR team members from DHL Global Forwarding came together on a wet & windy Saturday morning in June to complete a distance challenge, by hiking 5km up the Dublin mountains.
“We chose to do a charity event as results of the EOS, in order to gain some camaraderie within the team and spend some time outside of the work place together. The reason we chose Autism as the charity of choice was that several of us in the department have children, nephews, nieces with different levels of Autism. There is a two year waiting list to achieve official Autism diagnosis alone, without this a child cannot not attend a school providing the relevant attention or education needed. Unless you go private and achieve the diagnosis, a child’s welfare and learning is left dormant. Autism has not been on the government’s agenda for many years and whilst it has been highlighted and in the spotlight of late, Autism remains largely ignored.”
- Brian Smith, Ocean Freight (OFR) Customer Services Specialist, DHL Global Forwarding Ireland.
AsIAm endlessly work to create a society in which every autistic person is empowered to reach their own personal potential and fully participate in society. What began, in 2014, as an online platform for the community to access information and share experiences has quickly grown into a movement for change for the autism community. Today, AsIAm is Ireland’s most influential autism charity.
