DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, has increased the number of cargo flights between Japan and the U.S. from Central Japan International Airport operated by DHL Air U.K. from three to six round-trip weekly flights from 6 September 2022 (Tuesday). The enhanced service operation system resulting from the additional flights will significantly improve service, expand the same-day delivery area for import shipments from the U.S. in the Chubu region, and reduce the number of days required for transport by one day.
Tony Khan, President and Representative Director of DHL Express Japan said, "We are delighted to enhance our air network operations with this additional flight capacity and cater to the high demand for Japan-US routes. With the additional flights, we will have up to 2,434 tonnes per week on the Japan-U.S. route. Furthermore, as the only integrator utilizing the Central Japan International Airport, we will continue to sharpen our service to customers with speed and reliability in the Chubu region."
Mr. Riki Inuzuka, President & CEO of Central Japan International Airport said, “We sincerely welcome the increase in flights by DHL Air UK, which will meet the expectations of the automotive and aerospace industries, which have close ties with North America, and will further enhance the competitiveness of companies in the Chubu region. We will continue to support DHL Express' business development in Centrair to the fullest extent so that they can further expand their network in Centrair.”
DHL Air U.K. is the UK-based cargo airline of the DHL Group. In June this year, the airline launched its first flight to Asia (Hong Kong – Nagoya/Chubu - Cincinnati - East Midlands, U.K.). It is their first intercontinental flight linking Europe, the U.S. and Asia, and connecting Chubu International Airport with the DHL Express hub in Cincinnati, U.S., as part of the route to and from Japan.
DHL is the only company in the international express industry establishing an air network based at Central Japan International Airport, giving it a competitive advantage in terms of service quality, especially in the Chubu region. The increase in the number of DHL flights to the Chubu region, home to many of Japan's manufacturing industries, is a significant step forward in upgrading import services from the U.S., one of Japan's most important trading partners.
DHL Express continuously invests to meet steady growth in cross-border time-sensitive shipments. DHL Express operates over 320 dedicated aircraft with 15 partner airlines on over 2,300 daily flights across more than 220 countries and territories.
