This is the third TAPA certificate that DHL Express has received for its facilities in Japan

DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, has received TAPA Class A Certificate, an international security and safety standard for cargo handling, for its Osaka Distribution Center, which was opened in 2020.

This certification recognizes that the management of bonded cargo, shed and transportation operations at the Osaka Distribution Center are conducted in compliance to TAPA’s processes and standards. It also demonstrates that employees are well trained and equipped with knowledge of protecting and handling customer shipments.

For DHL Express Japan, being awarded the TAPA certificate again for a facility handling cargo to and from Kansai International Airport means that all three of its gateway facilities in Japan (Narita, Chubu, and Kansai) now have TAPA Class A.

Tony Khan, President, and Representative Director of DHL Express Japan, said, "We are honored to receive the TAPA Class A certification for our Osaka Distribution Center. We place the highest priority on ensuring the security of our customers' shipments, and we will continue to deliver safe and high-quality services to our customers."

TAPA (Transported Asset Protection Association), is a non-profit organization that sets global security standards with the aim to minimize cargo losses from the supply chain. It recognizes and certifies industry players such as global manufacturers, logistics providers and freight carriers, who ensure shipments and cargo are transported in a cost efficient and secure environment.

TAPA's guidelines are based on eight safety criteria; perimeter security, security procedures, access control – office areas and facility dock/warehouse, standard security requirements, pre-alerts, security systems(machine security) and enhanced security requrements. Facilities that have passed assessments by the TAPA office are given a Class A, B, or C certification, depending on their security level, followed by periodic audits.

With approximately 370 TAPA-certified facilities, DHL Express will continue to strive to maintain high standards at its facilities to provide customers with quality transportation and logistics services as well as deliver their shipments safely and securely.
