Press Release: Tokyo, Japan, January 19, 2024
Certified as Asia Pacific Top Employer 2024 for ten consecutive years, DHL Express is one of the top employers in the region
DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, has been recognized as Top Employer in Japan for the fourth consecutive year. DHL Express has also been certified as Asia Pacific Top Employer 2024, marking the 10th year it is certified in this region. Over the last 10 years, 12 countries and territories across Asia Pacific have participated in the Top Employer certification.
Tony Khan, President and Representative Director of DHL Express Japan said: “Needless to say, cooperation among employees from different countries is essential in the field of international logistics. We are very proud that our efforts in pursuing a great workplace for our employees, including international employee exchanges, have culminated in this prestigious Top Employer award for the fourth year in a row.”
DHL believes that improving employee satisfaction and motivation is the source of superior service quality that differentiates it from its competitors. Accordingly, becoming the employer of choice is one of DHL's objectives as part of its mid- to long-term corporate strategies. An annual Employee Opinion Survey is conducted to measure satisfaction levels among all employees, the results of which were analyzed on a team-by-team basis, and various measures have been implemented to improve the ease and satisfaction of working.
In addition, last year, for the first time in four years, the Asia Cup 2023, an internal sports competition in which countries compete in soccer and cheerleading in the region, returned. 58 members from Japan participated in the event held in Singapore. This is an event where employees from different countries compete and celebrate together across borders. It also encourages interaction between employees from different countries who usually could not meet each other, significantly contributing to employee engagement. The Top Employer certifications confirm that such personnel effort and employee retention are highly valued in the competition.
“Top Employer” is an annual international survey conducted by the Top Employers Institute, which recognizes companies that provide outstanding employment environments in 20 areas of HR practices. Specifically, certification is based on the results of a survey in which companies participate in six HR domains covering 20 topics, including People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Wellbeing and more. In 2024, Top Employers Institute has certified more than 2300 organizations in 122 countries/regions.
