DHL Express Ranked First Place by Great Place To Work® in Japan
Press Release: Tokyo, Japan, February 12, 2025
DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, has been named Japan’s Best Workplace 2025 by Great Place to Work® Institute Japan (GPTW) for the 13th consecutive year. DHL Express Japan was ranked first place among in the large companies category (over 1,000 employees).
Tony Khan, President and Representative Director of DHL Express Japan said, "Our purpose of connecting people and improving lives can only be fulfilled through the dedication of our motivated and engaged employees. We are very proud that our continuous efforts to enhance employee satisfaction and foster a rewarding workplace have resulted in being ranked for the 13th consecutive year, earning us the honor of receiving the first position.”
DHL Express believes in the motto of “Motivated People Deliver Great Service Quality” and considers that enhancing employee satisfaction and engagement is essential to providing excellent service. To achieve “a great place to work” for their employees, the company conducts an annual in-house "Employee Opinion Survey" to measure employee satisfaction levels, and each team analyzes the results of this survey to improve the workplace environment. In addition, to deepen mutual understanding between management and employees, the president himself visited all of the local facilities, and in 2024, nearly 50 opportunities for direct dialogue with employees were arranged so that he could listen to the voices of the front-line employees.
In terms of career development, DHL has long operated a “mentor-mentee” program (advisor-advisee) in Japan and a “job posting” system that allows employees to apply for positions within the DHL Group not only in Japan but also overseas.
A new online platform powered by artificial intelligence, the “Career Marketplace,” was introduced globally last year to further support career development. On the platform, jobs are proposed to employees. On top of that, they can search for open job opportunities and identify skills they need or lack for that role. This will enable DHL to support each individual's career development within the company, including recommending e-learning programs that match their career plans and providing information on relevant in-house postings.
The company's entry in the "Great Place to Work" ranking recognizes these ongoing and evolving efforts to improve engagement.
The ranking was decided based on an annual survey conducted by Great Place to Work® Institute Japan the global authority on workplace culture. The survey collects responses from more than 10 million employees in 10,000 companies in approximately 150 countries. The top 100 companies are announced in each country based on the survey result.
