DHL EXPRESS KOREA EXPANDS ITS GWANGJU SERVICE CENTER

  • The new facility is ten times larger in size than the previous facility, featuring an advanced ‘full drive-in’ capacity to accommodate 12 vehicles simultaneously
  • It provides more reliable express services to Gwangju metropolitan city and nearby major industrial complexes

DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, has announced the expansion and relocation of its Gwangju Service Center to a new facility to better support the growing demand for international express services and bolster its logistics network in the region.

With a total space of 1,315 sqm, the new service center is ten times larger than the previous facility. It features an advanced ‘full drive-in’ system that enables simultaneous indoor loading and unloading of shipments from up to 12 vehicles, enhanced productivity and efficiency. In addition, the new facility is equipped with an electric forklift with two battery charging stations and full LED lights across the building as part of energy-saving measures, which is in line with Deutsche Post DHL Group’s goal of reducing carbon footprint.

The expansion of Gwangju Service Center will provide faster and more flexible international express services to the companies in the Honam region, southwestern part of South Korea, including all of Gwangju metropolitan city. It is located at the center of the Pyeongdong industrial complex and adjacent to several other industrial complexes, such as Hanam, Jingok, and Bitgeurin. Many industrial groups such as electronics, electricity, automotive, etc. are located in the area. The new facility will enable businesses to have greater access to DHL Express’s unparalleled global network that connects more than 220 countries and territories.

This will fully satisfy the recent increasing export and import logistics demands in the region, especially for the automobile parts industry that nearby Bitgeurin industrial complex. As of today, DHL Express Korea operates 23 service centers and 9 service points nationwide, providing the largest number of customer contact points in the Korean express industry. Moreover, it plans to expand its Kanguk Service Center in Seoul this year to further strengthen its logistics network nationwide.
