DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, will provide full logistics support to the South Korea men's national ice hockey team for the 20th time. The national team will participate in the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship in Nottingham, United Kingdom.
DHL Express will transport the national team’s personal effects and team equipment, including uniforms, hockey sticks, skates, helmets, gloves, electrical therapy machines, ultrasound therapy machines, beam projectors, etc., from the Jincheon Athletes' Village in Korea to the arena in Nottingham, and bring them back to Korea after the games.
Moving around 1.8 tons of ice hockey equipment in seven specially designed-on-demand boxes, DHL’s dedicated team of experts will handle all logistics processes from paperwork, pick-up, and customs clearance to final delivery.
Byungkoo Han, Country Manager of DHL Express Korea, said, “It is an honor to help the national team so that they can focus on giving their best performance at the matches. On behalf of our employees, I wish them all the best. We will continue efforts not only in logistics support but also to expand the fan base of ice hockey across the nation in the future.”
Since signing an official logistics sponsorship agreement with the national team in 2015, DHL Express Korea has transported over 46 tons of equipment for the team for 19 round trips, making this time the 20th overseas equipment transportation.
Meanwhile, DHL Express will continue to promote interest and awareness around ice hockey by hosting customer invitation events and VIP tour programs where participants can experience ice hockey up close at the Women's World Championship to be held in Gwanggyo, Suwon, on April 22, 2023.
At the World Championship Division 1 Group A from April 29 to May 5, the South Korean national team will compete with the UK, Lithuania, Italy, Romania, and Poland. This is the team's first world championship with coach Woojae Kim at the helm, who took over in August 2022. If they finish in the top two of their group, they will join the top division for the second time since 2017.
