DHL EXPRESS KOREA ADDS 50 ELECTRIC DELIVERY VEHICLES TO REDUCE CARBON EMISSIONS
Press Release: Seoul, July 17, 2023

- The total operating electric delivery fleet size will be 151 by the end of the year
- Thirty percent of the delivery fleet will be electrified, reducing carbon emissions by more than 544 tons annually
DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, announced that it is deploying another 50 electric delivery vehicles to reduce carbon emissions.
Electric delivery vehicles have been added annually to reduce logistics-related GHG emissions and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 in line with the DHL Group’s sustainability target. The fleet electrification journey started in 2018 with small EVs, followed by 45 one-ton electric delivery vans in 2021 and 56 in 2022.
By the end of this year, there will be a total of 151 electric delivery vehicles. With these additions in South Korea, DHL will have replaced 30% of its fleet with electric vehicles, reducing carbon emissions by more than 544 tons of CO₂e annually.

In addition, to ensure seamless operations, DHL Express will install another 26 7-kW charging stations in its service centers. This brings the total to 159 charging stations in its country’s operations. Moreover, delivery staff will be trained on how to use and maintain the electric vehicles.
ByungKoo Han, Country Manager of DHL Express Korea, said, “We have stayed committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions in line with the Group’s sustainability roadmap. To do that, we offer various green services and deploy electric vehicles annually. As a leading express delivery service provider, we will expand our green footprint on our journey toward sustainable growth.”
Meanwhile, DHL Express launched GoGreen Plus in June, a new service that allows customers in South Korea to reduce the carbon emissions associated with their shipments by using sustainable aviation fuel.
The DHL Group announced it will invest up to EUR 7 billion in clean operations and climate-neutral logistics through 2030. This includes electrifying 60% of its pick-up and delivery fleet worldwide.
