DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, has once again won the prestigious title of the ‘Great Place to Work in Korea 2024’. This marks the tenth consecutive year of recognition for DHL Express.
At the award ceremony organized by the Great Place to Work Institute (GPTW) on February 22nd, DHL Express also received the Best Workplace for Parents™ and ESG Human Rights Management™ achievements for the first time.
In the individual category, DHL Express Korea’s First Choice Team, an employee-led team that creates programs that drives continuous improvement of processes and engagement among employees, won the Korea GPTW Innovation Leader accolade in recognition of their efforts to lead innovative internal activities (e.g., performance dialog, a suggestion system, and gemba walk) to improve employee listening and feedback exchange.
The Great Place to Work® Institute is a global consulting firm that collects data from employees from more than 150 countries, including the United States, Europe, Latin America, Japan, and China. The ‘Great Place to Work in Korea’ awards recognize companies that have created an outstanding corporate culture and a high-quality workplace. Companies are selected based on two evaluation criteria: ‘Trust index’ – based on employee surveys and ‘Cultural Audit’ – an expert assessment on the overall management of corporate culture.
This year, DHL Express Korea attained the highest score in history on the ‘Trust Index,’ with a significant improvement from the previous year. Notably, among the five subcategories (‘Credibility’, ‘Respect’, ‘Fairness’, ‘Pride’ and “Camaraderie’), DHL Express Korea achieved particularly higher scores in ‘Credibility’ and ‘Respect’.
Diversity and inclusion are fundamental to DHL’s culture and HR policy. DHL Express Korea has fostered an inclusive working environment where employees feel appreciated and valued. At DHL, almost half of the employees, excluding frontline and delivery staff are women despite the logistics industry being a traditionally male-dominated industry Additionally, the rate of female managers is above the industry average. Furthermore, approximately 50% of DHL’s employees are also parents, and the rate of male employees taking childcare leave is steadily increasing, which demonstrates the company’s family-friendly policies.
Additionally, DHL Express Korea has been running the Certified International Specialist program, an in-house training program, for last 15 years to nurture employees. To build camaraderie and promote cultural exchanges between DHL employees across countries, DHL Express also runs programs such as Employee of the Year and Asia Cup (an internal regional sports competition).
Furthermore, DHL Express strives to create an excellent working environment with its safety-first policy. For instance, it continuously upgrades its facilities to remove potential hazards in the workplace and improves employee awareness of potential risks by encouraging its people to complete the CIS Safety First Awareness module last year.
JiHun (Michael) Han, Managing Director of DHL Express Korea, said, “I am very proud to see us on the ‘Great Place to Work in Korea’ list for the 10th year in a row. It means we are one step closer to becoming a ‘Great Place to Work for ALL’. Motivated employees are at the center of our strategies and we will stay committed to creating an employee-centric culture that embraces diversity and inclusivity.”
In September last year, DHL Express Korea was included in the list of the 2023 Korea Top Job Creators unveiled by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, in recognition of the company’s various efforts to create an excellent workplace for all and enhance the quantity and quality of jobs.
