DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, has announced that it will continue to provide logistics support to the Korea National Ice Hockey team for another three years, until 2027.

On September 20, 2024, DHL Express Korea and the Korea Ice Hockey Association (KIHA) signed an agreement at the KIHA’s office in Songpa -gu, Seoul, to extend the partnership in helping to promote the success and development of the national ice hockey team. DHL Express Korea and KIHA have been partners since 2015. Under the renewed agreement, DHL Express Korea will continue to manage the overseas transportation of the national ice hockey team’s equipment until 2027.

Over the past nine years, DHL Express Korea’s dedicated team of experts has directly managed the entire logistics journey of the national ice hockey team’s international shipment – from paperwork for pick-up and customs clearance to delivery. As a result, DHL Express Korea successfully has transported over 56 tons of personal effects and team equipment to date, including uniforms, hockey sticks, skates, helmets, gloves, sharpeners, and electrical therapy machines, across 22 round trips. The average shipment volume is 1.7 tons per trip. DHL’s support helps to ensure that the players can perform at their best without concerns about equipment delivery when participating in overseas competitions and training.

Through the extended partnership agreement, DHL Express Korea will provide logistics services worth 1.8 billion won over the next three years for male and female national ice hockey teams of all age groups. In addition, it will collaborate with the KIHA to promote the sport and fan base by participating in “Hockey Together,” an annual ice hockey class and experience program organized by the KIHA.

JiHun (Michael) Han, Managing Director of DHL Express Korea, said, “We are happy and proud to provide the national ice hockey team with our logistics support, allowing them to focus on giving their best in matches. We will continue to spare no effort in helping the players enhance their athletic performance and popularize the sport.”

DHL Express Korea successfully provided logistics support for the men’s national ice hockey team during the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship events held in Nottingham, United Kingdom, last year, and in Bolzano, Italy, this year. It has also hosted a customer invitation event and tour program where participants could experience ice hockey up close at the Women’s World Championship held in Gwanggyo, Sowon, last year to promote interest and awareness around ice hockey.
