DHL Electrifies Truck Route From Beringe
Press Release: Eindhoven, March 4th 2024
DHL Supply Chain is using a fully electric truck combination for the transport of engine parts from the technological campus in Beringe to Roermond. A Limburg commuter connection that takes place several times a day, ensuring operational continuity in a sustainable manner.
The truck combination is a Mercedes Benz eActros type 300 LS 4x2. This initiative was created through a partnership between DHL Supply Chain and Van der Wal in which a sustainable solution for the long term was chosen. The truck combination was festively unveiled by Robin van Amelsvoort (DHL Supply Chain Benelux, VP BU Technology) and Gertjan Boom (Managing Director van der Wal Transport).
Robin van Amelsvoort, VP Technology at DHL Supply Chain Benelux & Nordics: “With this connection we are concretely making part of the supply chain more sustainable. This is partly possible through intensive collaboration with our partners, such as Van der Wal Transport. We also gain experience with this combination that we use for the use of electric trucks on a larger scale.”
Gertjan Boom, MD van der Wal Transport: “Logistics must become more sustainable, waiting is not an option. But it must be financially feasible and at this stage this can only be done in close collaboration with the customer. Fortunately, we have a partner in DHL Supply Chain who wants to invest in sustainable logistics with us. Together we are working on options to further roll out this model.”
