DHL EXPRESS DELIVERS OVER 500K VACCINES TO THE PHILIPPINES DONATED BY SOUTH KOREAN GOVERNMENT

Press Release: Philippines, December 6, 2021

The world’s leading express service provider has facilitated the delivery of vaccines donated by the South Korean government

DHL Express, the world's leading international express service provider, continues its collaboration with the Philippine Department of Health (DOH) to successfully deliver the South Korean government's vaccine donations.

The 539,000 doses of vaccines, which arrived on a DHL Express cargo flight, are a one-off donation from South Korea to the Philippines to aid in global COVID-19 recovery efforts. This shipment is made possible through the two countries' collaborative efforts to advance public health and support COVID-19 immunization initiatives. The donation brings South Korea's COVID-19 assistance to the Philippines to USD210.7 million, or approximately PHP10.67 billion.

DHL Express Philippines monitored and facilitated the arrival of the vaccines at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay City, which was received by Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr., Dr. Miko Amansec, Dr. Anjo Fabellon from DOH, and South Korean Ambassador to the Philippines, Kim Inchul.

"Our continued partnership with the Department of Health to deliver life-saving vaccines to the Philippines is a testament to our mission of ‘Connecting People, Improving Lives.’ Our commitment remains firm in helping our communities by supporting the country’s vaccination program through our logistics expertise and extensive global network,” said Nigel Lockett, Country Manager, DHL Express Philippines.

DHL Express Korea arranged for the pick-up of vaccines before being airlifted from DHL Central Asia Hub in Hong Kong to the DHL Express Manila Gateway where it arrived on time for the Philippines’ 3-day national vaccine drive.

"Around 2.6 million Filipinos have been inoculated against COVID-19 on the first day of the National Vaccination Days on Monday, November 29. It really gave us a lot of momentum in getting hold of the unvaccinated," said Vaccine Secretary Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. According to Secretary Galvez, the Philippines' most recent daily vaccination rate ranks fifth in the world among countries with the highest single-day vaccination rates.

DHL Express Philippines will continue partnering with various local government agencies to support vaccination efforts, such as the Resbakuna campaign of the Department of Health.
