DHL SUPPLY CHAIN OPENS A GREEN LOGISTICS PARK FOR E-COMMERCE IN GORZÓW WIELKOPOLSKI

Press Release: Gorzów Wielkopolski, April 19, 2023

Eight months after the groundbreaking ceremony, the global leader in logistics and supply chain management is opening an environmentally friendly logistics complex in Gorzów Wielkopolski. The DSC E-com Distribution Center facility is designed to meet the needs of the e-commerce industry. DHL Supply Chain’s investment will create several hundred new jobs in the region.

On April 19, representatives of the investor (DHL Supply Chain), the general contractor (Atlas Ward) and the authorities of the city of Gorzów Wielkopolski officially inaugurated one of the most modern logistics parks in western Poland. The newly-opened facility, with an area of more than 60,000 sqm, is the first phase of the complex being developed on Mosiężna Street. In total, it will offer 110,000 sqm of space tailored to the needs of e-commerce companies.

A major advantage of the DSC E-com Distribution Center is its location. The logistics center is located on the S3 road, close to the A2 highway, and less than an hour’s drive from the German border. An additional potential of DHL Supply Chain’s latest investment is its proximity and partnership with the important economic center of Gorzów Wielkopolski. The city has been working hard for several years to become an important logistics center for the western part of Poland.

In Gorzów Wielkopolski we have an excellent foundation for development. The new investment is a very important addition to our strategic European Fulfillment Network and opens the door to dynamic development for companies operating in the e-commerce sector. All future tenants of the Gorzów facility can count on first-class service in a certified, green and cost-efficient warehouse,” said Hendrik Venter, CEO DHL Supply Chain EMEA.

The new warehouse is part of the EFN (European Fulfillment Network), which enables e-commerce customers served by DHL to scale their business, grow dynamically and have access to more than 30 similar locations across the continent. Being part of the network also means having access to the latest digital tools and technologies, as well as support from DHL Supply Chain experts in preparing and executing fulfillment strategies.

The DHL Supply Chain warehouse in Gorzów Wielkopolski offers not only an excellent location and high-quality logistics services, but also several hundred new jobs for local residents. Working in a modern logistics center is an opportunity for career development and valuable experience. The DHL Supply Chain is currently recruiting for the position of Warehouse Employee. We encourage interested candidates to submit their applications and join the team of employees at the new e-commerce logistics center,” said Monika Duda-Tulejko, Managing Director of DHL Supply Chain in Poland.

From the outset, the investment was designed and implemented in accordance with DHL’s GoGreen environmental policy. The building is BREEAM “Excellent” certified and operationally neutral in terms of its carbon footprint. During its operation, the logistics center will minimize electricity consumption and ensure sustainable, economical use of other resources. This will be achieved through a number of environmentally friendly solutions, such as sub-metering systems, skylights, systems to control and reduce water consumption, and lighting management systems. The temperature inside the facility will be controlled by heat pumps, and thanks to photovoltaic panels, the DSC E-com Distribution Center will also produce its own electricity.

The investor has decided to cooperate with the Atlas Ward Polska Group because they were looking for a proven and reliable partner. Our experience, comprehensive advice at every stage of the investment and construction process and the guarantee of meeting the deadline were appreciated. DHL Supply Chain warehouse is another investment that we implement using the latest technologies and in accordance with the principles of sustainable construction - the facility will be certified in the BREEAM system at the "excellent" level” says Mariusz Górecki, CEO Atlas Ward Polska.

DHL Supply Chain has installed power outlets near its buildings to charge electric trucks and cars. This is important because the switch to electric trucks is one of the key elements in implementing DHL Deutsche Post Group’s “DSC GoGreen 2050” strategy to achieve zero-emission logistics by 2050.
