DHL EXPRESS REDUCES CARBON EMISSIONS WITH 12 NEW ELECTRIC SCOOTERS IN TAIWAN

  • The new electric scooters deployed in Taipei, Taoyuan and Taichung are in line with Deutsche Post DHL Group’s zero-emissions target by 2050

Taipei, September 15, 2022: DHL Express, the world’s leading international express delivery service provider, announced that it would add 12 Aeon Ai-2 Gather electric scooters to its delivery fleet in Taiwan as part of its efforts to achieve sustainable logistics. The addition will boost the ratio of electric vehicles (EVs) in DHL’s motorcycle fleet in Taiwan to 78%, reducing carbon emissions by 6 tons annually. The new electric scooters will be deployed in Taipei, Taoyuan, and Taichung.

We will continue to roll out more green vehicles in the future, and expand our portfolio of green products and services towards our 2050 net-zero-emission goal.”

DHL's Journey to “Sustainable Logistics”: Net-Zero Emissions by 2050

DHL Express is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

In addition to the 12 new electric scooters, DHL Express Taiwan’s green fleet includes 25 electric motorcycles, 11 electric vans, and 1 Cubicycle. Electric vehicles account for 15% of the entire delivery fleet. The motorcycle fleet is expected to be 100% electrified by 2023, and by 2030, 60% of the last-mile delivery fleet will be electrified.

In addition to promoting green fleets, DHL Express Taiwan has also invested in energy-saving solutions for its facilities. All 12 major service centers and Taipei Gateway have been equipped with LED energy-saving lighting. New facilities are also installed with solar power panels to optimize energy consumption.

DHL also provides customers with "GoGreen" solutions, including carbon footprint reports, climate neutrality services, and carbon assessment reports, to help them achieve their ESG sustainability goals.
