DHL EXPRESS TAIWAN AND PLANET TECHNOLOGY SIGN GOGREEN PLUS PARTNERSHIP TO REDUCE CARBON EMISSIONS VIA SUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUEL
Press Release: Taiwan, 06 June 2023
DHL Express, the world’s leading international express delivery service provider, announced today that PLANET Technology Corporation, a Taiwan-based IP networking products and solutions provider, has entered into an agreement to become DHL Express’ first customer in Taiwan to use its GoGreen Plus service.
The GoGreen Plus service supports PLANET’s goal to reduce the carbon emissions of its international shipments by 10 percent year-on-year, accelerating the customer’s sustainability commitment of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
Yung C. Ooi, Managing Director of DHL Express Taiwan, said, “DHL is leading the efforts to promote sustainable logistics. We know our customers are committed to reducing their environmental impact, so we proudly introduced the GoGreen Plus service, enabling our customers to make their supply chains more sustainable.”
“PLANET has been actively promoting sustainable development and set clear targets to achieve their goal. We are excited about working with PLANET on their sustainable journey, and we look forward to achieving decarbonization goals together,” he said.
Established in 1993, PLANET has selected DHL Express Taiwan as its logistics partner to deliver its products and services to over 160 countries. PLANET’s use of GoGreen Plus applies across all its overseas trade lanes, encompassing mainly Americas and European countries.
Through this partnership, DHL and PLANET will explore more cooperation opportunities in other sustainability initiatives, such as volunteering programs in environmental protection and community engagement.
The GoGreen Plus service is part of Deutsche Post DHL Group's sustainability goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Insetting through GoGreen Plus allows customers to reduce their Scope 3 emissions, the indirect greenhouse gas emissions that occur in a company's value chain, including downstream transportation and distribution.
Unlike offsetting initiatives, GoGreen Plus (insetting) reduces emissions within the logistics sector and therewith can be used for DHL customers’ own voluntary emission reporting and follows the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) philosophy.
