THREE DHL SUPPLY CHAIN EXECUTIVES RECEIVE WOMEN IN SUPPLY CHAIN AWARD

Press Release: WESTERVILLE, OHIO, September 18, 2023

  • The award recognizes female supply chain leaders and executives driving innovation and growth within the supply chain industry
  • This year’s winners join eight additional DHL executives who have earned the award since its creation in 2020

DHL Supply Chain, the Americas leader in contract logistics and part of DHL Group, is proud to announce that three of its leaders — Shelly Nirvelli, vice president of business development, packaging solutions, Gretchen Torres, vice president, marketing & engagement and Bridget Typovsky, vice president of operations excellence – project delivery — received the Women in Supply Chain Award from leading supply chain publications Food Logistics and Supply & Demand Chain Executive. The award honors female supply chain leaders and executives whose accomplishments, mentorship and examples set a foundation for women at all levels of a company’s supply chain network.

“This year, we received over 400 submissions, the highest amount of applications not only for this award, but also for all of our awards. What’s more, 118 of those applications were submitted by male counterparts, nominating their boss, co-worker or associate. Last year, that figure was just at 75. This shows progress. This shows hope that one day, we won’t need an award like this because men and women in the supply chain will be equal,” said Marina Mayer, editor-in-chief of Food Logistics and Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “While there’s still more work to be done, what we’re doing is working. From truck drivers to CEOs, what these winners are doing matters to the future of all supply chains.”

Each winner representing DHL Supply Chain is a leader and expert in their respective focus areas, including business development, marketing and operations excellence.

Shelly Nirvelli has spent more than two decades with DHL Supply Chain, most recently taking on the role of vice president of business development for packaging solutions. In her role, she oversees a team charged with doubling DHL’s existing packaging business, which already exceeds 50 locations. She also serves as a member of DHL Supply Chain’s North American Steering Committee for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB).

As vice president, marketing & engagement, Gretchen Torres is a member of DHL Supply Chain’s global marketing leadership team and the North American human resources leadership team. Since joining DHL Supply Chain in 2017, Torres has led the transformation of the Marketing function within the organization, driving multi-channel campaigns that have led to tangible business impacts, as well as more than 40 awards from national public relations and marketing organizations.

Bridget Typovsky, vice president of operations excellence – product delivery, leads a diverse group of logistics professionals who manage the implementation of new business across all sectors within DHL Supply Chain’s North American operations. For nearly 24 years, Typovsky has played a key role in DHL Supply Chain’s growth agenda. Most recently, she led a “gamification” initiative focused on ongoing education to engage with internal and external audiences, including intern classes, STEM schools, functional groups across the organization and even vendor engagements.

“We are proud to have Shelly, Gretchen and Bridget represent DHL Supply Chain among the top female professionals in the supply chain industry,” said Scott Sureddin, CEO, DHL Supply Chain, North America. “These honorees contribute to DHL’s vision daily, providing valuable and innovative ideas, mentorship and representation across the industry. Their diverse perspectives and dedication to the field serve as an impressive model for future supply chain leaders across the globe.”

Since the award’s creation, eight DHL Supply Chain executives have been honored. These recipients include Amanda Hall, director of quality assurance, Paige VanFossen, vice president, eCommerce operations, Becky Ross, vice president, IT, Elaine Darr, vice president, operations excellence, Alicemarie Geoffrion, vice president, packing operations, and Denise Mager, vice president, operations life sciences and healthcare. In the award’s inaugural year Sally Miller, chief information officer and Valerie Hoge, chief operating officer were named recipients.

Nirvelli, Torres and Typovsky will be honored for their accomplishments alongside industry peers at this year’s Women in Supply Chain Forum November 14-15 in Atlanta.
