DHL SUPPLY CHAIN USES A SOFTWARE ROBOT IN NEPŘEVÁZKA

Press Release: Prague, 08.12.2020

  • The robot performs activities that are repetitive and stereotypical, such as entering and rewriting data
  • Employees can perform activities with higher added value instead of routine work
  • After Nepřevázka, other DHL Supply Chain branches in the Czech Republic will also introduce software robots

DHL Supply Chain increases the efficiency of its logistics operations by implementing automation and robotics. One of the recently implemented innovations in this area is the first software robot in the services of operations in Nepřevázka. The benefit of software robots is the elimination of dull and stereotypical work and a significant increase in efficiency. With their help, employees can focus on more important tasks.

"The deployment of the first software robot in Nepřevázka is a big milestone for us," says Dalibor Ondra, who is in charge of implementing innovations in Central and Eastern Europe at DHL Supply Chain. "With this step, we are launching another significant wave of automation of our operations. The aim is not to replace human labor, but to use human capabilities and potential for higher value-added activities."

DHL Supply Chain has introduced a software robot from the RPA (Robotic Process Automation) category into logistics processes in Nepřevázka. This computer program performs repetitive tasks, such as – in the case of the warehouse in Nepřevázka – manual entry and rewriting of data. In addition, RPA also reduces error rates and speeds up relevant processes. Process robotization frees employees from the need to perform routine manual activities and frees their hands for new tasks.

The RPA software robot has already proved successful in Nepřevázka and is currently being expanded to other DHL Supply Chain operations. An RPA combined with OCR (optical character recognition), capable of recognizing texts from printed and scanned documents, will soon start operating in Pohořelice. The distribution center in Jirny, is not left behind either. Like the above-mentioned DHL Supply Chain branches, it counts on the use of software robots in various applications.

The implementation of innovative software robots is part of a global strategy of Accelerated Digitalization of operational activities. DHL Supply Chain already employs numerous RPA robots worldwide, increasing the efficiency of employees in the areas of transport, finance, human resources and operations.
