A sign for diversity
The DHL hub stands for diversity, equal opportunities, inclusion and belonging. The message is carried by the "Pride Flyer" into the world. The design was created by a Leipzig Hub employee.
Before Hannes started his career at the DHL hub, he worked as a web and media designer. He never dreamed that he would use these skills to design an entire aircraft.
Hannes has long been a supporter of RainbowNet, the network for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) employees and all supporters in the DHL Group. When the RainbowNet set up an information stand at an external location, Hannes not only got into conversation with the network's colleagues, but this time also offered his graphic services for future projects. "A few weeks later I was asked if I would like to design the new Pride aircraft.” Hannes immediately got to work and created a total of six different designs for the Airbus.
A few weeks later, the time had finally come: Hannes was able to admire "his" aircraft live. "It was an incredible feeling," he recalls.
For Hannes, designing the DHL Express Pride plane is a special honour and not only because it allows him to use his graphic talent for the DHL hub. It is important to him to set a sign for acceptance.
"I myself do not belong to the LGBTIQ+ community, but I have many friends who are part of it. For example, a good friend is a trans woman. So I also know that discrimination does happen. It's not about converting everyone at all. It's about creating awareness in society that not everyone is the same and that this very diversity deserves tolerance."
With his commitment to RainbowNet, Hannes is making an important contribution to spreading this message around the world together with DHL.
