GLOBAL VOLUNTEER DAY

Our employees don't usually have much to do with brushes and paint when they come to work. Once a year, however, they swap their jobs at DHL Hub Leipzig for jobs that are unrelated to delivering packages, letters and freight all over the world. The DPDHL Group Global Volunteer Day was started in 2011. Since then, more than 100,000 employees worked closely with local associations and institutions to organize relief campaigns for a good cause - and of course our employees also participate.

For example, the Association Internationale Frauen Leipzig e.V. asked for support renovating rooms - with a lot of help and teamwork this project was quickly completed. "Most people only associate packages with DHL. As part of these initiatives you also see the people behind a company. We give DHL a face and do something good," says Hendrik Meiner, who was only too happy to wield paint, brushes and wallpaper paste.

He and his colleagues also help, with refugee aid work, they organize a sports and games day in a retirement home or help with serving food at the Delitzscher Tafel food charity.  Support is given to organizations whose work coincides with our DHL aid GoGreen (environmental protection), GoHelp (disaster management) and GoTeach (improving educational and professional opportunities) programs. — Stefan Macourek
