Press Release: Tokyo, October 1st, 2020

DHL Supply Chain has entered into a five-year strategic partnership with OKI to manage end-to-end logistics operation for its subsidiary
DHL Supply Chain (“DHL”), the global market leader for contract logistics solutions announced today that it has entered into a five-year Lead Logistics Partner (“LLP”) agreement with Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd., (“OKI”). OKI is a leading Japanese telecommunications equipment manufacturer, which provides added value in various areas including telecommunications, mechatronics systems, EMS and printers since its foundation as the first telecommunications equipment manufacturer in the country.
Under this LLP agreement, DHL will be placed fully in charge of the logistics division of OKI’s subsidiary, OKI Pro Serve (OPS) and part of the logistics operations of OKI Pro Assist (OPA). This entails managing OPS’s and OPA’s logistics operations including inbound, storage, outbound, value added services, and transport management services for 52 offices and warehouses across Japan.
“It is a great honor to be selected as the LLP of OKI, which has a strong heritage of over 140 years and holds a leading market share globally across its key businesses. DHL has built an unparalleled track record and expertise in LLP across multiple sectors and regions and have accumulated crucial local knowledge working with large Japanese conglomerates. Backed by innovative solutions that leverage data analytics, artificial intelligence, robotics and automation, I am convinced that we will be able to deliver top service management standards, visibility, standardization and continuous improvement to OKI’s logistics operations,” said Alfred Goh, President & Representative Director, CEO Japan and Korea, DHL Supply Chain.
For a seamless transfer of expertise and knowledge, approximately 140 employees from the OPS and OPA logistics team will join the DHL family. These employees will be engaged in the core business as a member of the global logistics service team and will gain opportunities to develop their career as logistics professionals.
Hiroshi Tomizawa, Executive Officer and Deputy Head of Corporate Group of OKI said, “We believe it is critical to work with a logistics partner who has the right expertise and knowledge to ensure stable logistics service as we face aging population and subsequent labor shortage, especially driver shortage, and also control cost when labor and transport rates continue to increase. With DHL’s proven record in managing logistics subsidiaries of Japanese manufacturers, its best practices and know-how around LLP services, and innovative solutions globally, I am confident that DHL can optimize, standardize, level and reduce cost for our logistics operations and provide our employees transferred to DHL with opportunities to grow as logistics professionals. Furthermore, I look forward to driving benefits with DHL to realize stable logistics operations and control logistics cost even after the business transfer.”
Through the partnership, DHL will deliver cost savings as well as lean, sustainable and high-quality logistics services through optimization using data analytics, co-loading and resource sharing with other DHL accounts, efficient logistics operations through vendor evaluation, audit, selection and management, data-driven continuous improvement of productivity and quality, and visualization of domestic logistics cost across the different business units and affiliates of OKI utilizing a standardized management method.
