DHL SUPPLY CHAIN IS ENTRUSTED BY HOLOGIC JAPAN WITH LOGISTICS OPERATIONS AND OPTIMIZED SOLUTIONS FOR MEDICAL DEVICE LOGISTICS

Press Release: Tokyo, December 13th, 2022

DHL Supply Chain combines the know-how of medical device logistics developed over the years with its robust operation management structure, including spare parts logistics, to help Hologic optimize its business.

DHL Supply Chain, the global leader in contract logistics, has been entrusted with logistics operations by Hologic Japan, Inc. - a global medical device company committed to improving women’s health and well-being through early detection and treatment of diseases - and started providing services at its Kawasaki Yako and Sagamihara Logistics Centers in September 2022. Today both companies held a joint ceremony to commemorate the launch of the services at Sagamihara Logistics Center. Hologic started partnership with DHL from the middle of this year in other Asian countries too.

Opened in 2021, Kawasaki Yako Logistics Center is one of DHL Supply Chain’s spare parts logistics facilities for the medical device sector that provides 24x7 services for delivery, import, return management and demand fulfillment based on customer needs. The facility provides these services for Hologic’s spare parts business while ensuring flexibility to meet volume growth and fluctuations. Sagamihara Logistics Center offers the optimal location in Hologic’s medical device (finished goods) logistics network due to its proximity to East Japan which offers a shorter delivery lead time and lower cost, allowing for better response to volume fluctuations. DHL Supply Chain also offers MySupplyChain Track & Trace, a unique, self-developed visibility tool to centrally manage a wide range of transport processes, including order management, vehicle management, shipment tracking, and reporting. It also makes necessary information available at every stage of the processes.

Jérôme Gillet, President & Representative Director, CEO Japan and Korea, DHL Supply Chain said, “With DHL Supply Chain providing logistics services to Hologic in Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong, I am delighted to witness our partnership with Hologic strengthening and our role in supporting healthcare professionals and women for better healthcare. This project gives DHL Supply Chain Japan opportunities to demonstrate our capabilities by deploying continuous improvement methodology and sharing best practices from Japan and other countries.”

Keiichi Yamazaki, , Vice President, General Manager of Hologic Japan said, “We recognize that improving service level and cost through logistics optimization and visibility in the finished goods and spare parts logistics management of medical devices is a challenge which we need to continue to focus on. We are confident that DHL’s strong performance management, proactive culture of continuous improvement, optimized supply chain cost and extensive logistics network covering all necessary geographies will help us achieve our priorities. Through partnership with DHL Supply Chain with its global knowledge and localized know-how, we strive to further contribute to the development of healthcare for the future.”
