DHL EXPRESS KOREA EXPANDS ITS IKSAN SERVICE CENTER

Press Release: Seoul, March 4, 2021

  • Six times the size of the previous facility, featuring a 'full drive-in' system for simultaneous loading and unloading of deliveries from several vehicles
  • Expanded service center aims to accommodate the rise in international express shipping service at major industrial complexes in Jeonju, Iksan, Gunsan, and Wanju areas of North Jeolla Province

DHL Express, the world's leading international express service provider, has announced the expansion and relocation of its Iksan Service Center to a new facility to better cater to the increased needs of international express services in the region.

With a total area of 661 sqm, which is six times the size of the original facility, the new service center features a 'full drive-in' system that enables simultaneous indoor loading and unloading of deliveries from several vehicles, further enhancing productivity and efficiency. The center also improves CO2 emission levels by adding an electric forklift with battery charging station and equipping full LED lights across the facility.

The relocation of Iksan Service Center bolsters the logistics network and efficiently supports the continuous rise in demands of export and import express delivery services in Iksan and adjacent Jeonjui, Gunsan, and Wanju areas. These areas are home to several industrial complexes manufacturing textile, chemical, automotive, steel and machinery products. Adequately located in the close vicinity of such key areas in the region, the new Iksan Service Center enables businesses to have greater access to DHL Express's unparalleled logistics network that connects more than 220 countries and territories.

Byung Koo Han, Country Manager of DHL Express Korea, said, "I am pleased that the expansion of Iksan Service Center now provides more convenience and services to the customers in key cities of North Jeolla Province including Jeonju and Iksan. We are continuously investing in our logistics infrastructure and network with one new opening of Service Center in Pyeongtaek and two relocations in Seoul Kangbuk and Gwangju planned in the year in order to consistently support local businesses."
