DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, has announced the expansion and relocation of its Uiwang Service Center to meet the growing demand for international express services in southwestern Gyeonggi province. Measuring 5,150 square meters, the new facility is thrice the size of its previous location in Ansan, becoming the largest DHL service center in the country.
The new service center features a full drive-in system that enables simultaneous loading and unloading of up to 35 vehicles and accommodates the indoor operation of 8-tonne trucks, raising productivity and efficiency. In addition, the new facility is environmentally friendly, as it is equipped with eight electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and implemented with full LED lighting systems.
Byung Koo Han, Country Manager of DHL Express Korea said, “The Uiwang Service Center, which can handle about 70% more shipment per hour than the previous facility is well-positioned to fully satisfy the rapidly increasing logistics needs in the southwestern Gyeonggi area. Given the importance of reliable logistics networks in international express business, we will continue to invest in bolstering our logistics infrastructure to ensure it meets the high-quality services that customers come to expect.”
The relocation of the Uiwang Service Center will significantly upgrade international express services in southwestern Gyeonggi, encompassing Uiwang, Gunpo, Ansan, and Pyeongchon. Situated in the Uiwang Techno Park, one of the largest logistics hubs in southwestern Gyeonggi, the new facility is within a 30-minute drive from nearby industrial parks and tech clusters. With easy access to Yeongdong Expressway and Gwacheon-Bongdam Metro Expressway, the service center will deliver faster and more reliable logistics services to southwestern Gyeonggi as well as southern Seoul. Moreover, its superb connectivity to the Incheon Gateway is expected to make export and import logistics services more accessible in the region.
In addition, the Uiwang Service Center’s proximity to Korea University Hospital and Hanllym University Sacred Heart Hospital in Ansan further boosts DHL Medical Express’ services to deliver time and temperature-sensitive shipments.
Today, DHL Express Korea operates 23 service centers and nine service points nationwide, providing the largest number of customer contact points in the Korean express industry. Moreover, it recently relocated its Gwangju Service Center in February 2022 to a new facility that is approximately 10 times larger than its previous site and plans to expand its Gangbuk Service Center in Seoul this year.
