DHL Pilot Testing Saturday Deliveries
Press Release: October 24, 2024
Do you live in northern Stockholm? Then you are among the first to receive parcels from DHL on Saturdays.
DHL Freight is now conducting pilot tests to see how changing delivery days meet consumer needs. The pilot is part of the expansion of the company's e-commerce offering and growth target in the Swedish parcel market.
“Flexibility and speed of delivery tend to rank highly when consumers in Sweden and the world state what is important when shopping online. In the global DHL 2024 Online Shopper Trends survey, faster delivery comes out on top when consumers choose what improves their delivery experience,” says Johan Widman, Director E-commerce DHL Freight Sweden.
“We want to know more about this need and investigate how it appears in reality. For six months, we therefore extend our delivery days with Saturdays. As these deliveries go to the increasingly popular parcel lockers, we are extra curious about what that combination entails. At the same time, we are conducting an in-depth consumer survey with the aim of supplementing the empirical results from the pilot,” says Johan Widman.
After completing the pilot, DHL will evaluate the possibility of Saturday deliveries to more than 1,100 parcel lockers in Sweden, in addition to the approximately 1,900 parcel stores in DHL's nationwide network where customers can already pick up their parcels on Saturdays.
