CONTINENTAL ENTRUSTS DHL TO MANAGE ITS WAREHOUSING AND DELIVERY OF TIRES TO B-QUIK IN THAILAND

Press Release: Bangkok, 9 October, 2020

Continental and DHL Supply Chain to continue longstanding partnership in warehousing and transportation management in the country

Continental, the renowned worldwide market leader in the manufacturing and distribution of high-quality automotive tires, has selected DHL Supply Chain (“DHL”), the global market leader in contract logistics solutions, to manage the warehousing and transportation of its tires to more than 170 B-Quik centers in Thailand. B-Quik is one of the country’s largest automotive service chains.

Kevin Burrell, CEO of DHL Supply Chain Thailand Cluster said, “We have established a great working relationship with Continental over the years, and are honored to extend our partnership to ensure that all of B-Quik centers in the country are continually and conveniently well-stocked with the full range of Continental’s products. To accelerate digitalization of Continental’s supply chain alongside its focus on technology, we aim to deploy our integrated IT solutions to provide full visibility of the entire process, and leverage our extensive distribution network for speedy and efficiency delivery. We are confident that our expertise and solutions will deliver best-in-class services to Continental and B-Quik.”

In recent years, the tire market in Asia Pacific has grown at a compounded annual growth rate of 9% over the past five years. Although the full impact of Covid-19 has yet to be assessed, there is optimism that the tire market will regain its growth momentum in 2021 due to increasing demand for production of vehicles. Specifically in Thailand, the industry has held on to its luster because of a growing middle-income population, developing transportation infrastructure and rising automotive exports.

Bobby Siow, Managing Director of Continental Tyres (Thailand) Co., Ltd. said, “Our growth strategy in Thailand is focused on distribution through end-to-end car service centers such as B-Quik, which ensures we can swiftly and effectively reach our customers given their extensive footprint. With the recent opening of our new manufacturing plant in Rayong province, it is more imperative now that we rely on DHL’s network to better serve the needs of all our Thai customers and provide better access to our full range of quality tires.”

As part of this agreement, all Continental tires will be carefully stocked and managed at DHL’s Logistics Campus warehouse in Bangna, which has the optimal storage and handling standards to maintain the quality of the tires. DHL’s inventory management system, complemented by an industry-leading transportation and distribution system, can deliver orders quickly to B-Quik branches in Bangkok and its vicinity within a single day. DHL will also activate its Transport Network Hubs, located in 12 major provinces nationwide to transport tires to B-Quik’s provincial branches, as when there is a request.
