CONTINENTAL PICKS DHL SUPPLY CHAIN FOR WAREHOUSING AND DELIVERY SERVICES IN THAILAND
Press Release: Bangkok, May 17, 2022
DHL Supply Chain, the global market leader in contract logistics, signed a strategic agreement with Continental, the leading technology company in the manufacturing and distribution of high-quality automotive tires. As part of this agreement, DHL Supply Chain will continue to manage Continental’s warehousing and tire delivery requirements in Thailand. Continental tires will be stocked and managed at DHL’s Logistics Campus warehouse in the Bangna district of Bangkok.
“We have established a great working relationship with Continental over the years,” said Steve Walker, CEO of DHL Supply Chain Thailand Cluster. “Consistent reliability and efficiency are hallmarks that we pride ourselves on. We are honored that Continental recognizes the quality of our services and has entrusted us to continue our work in delivering cutting-edge warehousing and delivery solutions in Thailand for many more years to come.”
The facility features a high-tech and real-time inventory and barcode system which offers near real-time tracking and data insights from DHL's proprietary MySupplyChain platform. Storage spaces are also flexible with expandable racks. At the same time, the warehouse adheres to strict storage conditions to ensure the quality of the tires is maintained, no matter what the external conditions may be. The warehouse also features sustainable solutions, using renewable energy sources and energy-saving LED lighting.
DHL Supply Chain’s nationwide warehouse and transportation network in Thailand will provide faster delivery times for Continental as it has a dedicated fleet comprising multiple vehicle classes, such as big trucks for longhaul deliveries to distribution hubs, to four-wheel trucks for deliveries to end destinations. This end-to-end, adaptable logistics solution ensures uninterrupted high-volume delivery for Continental.
Bobby Siow, Managing Director of Continental Tyres (Thailand) Co., Ltd. said, “Our contract renewal with DHL Supply Chain is a testament to our confidence in them. In order to compete effectively and efficiently in Thailand, we need reliable and quick partners in embracing technologies and sustainable initiatives. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with DHL to ensure that every customer in Thailand has easy, dependable, and cost-effective access to our full range of quality tires.”
Continental produces a wide range of tires for trucks and buses, cars, motorbikes and bicycles. In Thailand, the company opened a state-of-the-art plant in Rayong in 2019 with a production capacity of up to 4 million premium car and light truck tires per year.
The Rayong plant, which represents an investment of more than €250 million completes the automotive industry landscape in Thailand, strengthening the local economy in Rayong and creating hundreds of new jobs in Thailand. The production facility in Thailand enables Continental to be faster and closer to their customers, delivering high quality “Made in Thailand” premium tires.
