Press Release: Milan, February 17, 2021
- A new Logistic Campus is born in Livraga, an innovative concept dedicated to the needs of the pharmaceutical world
- 50,000 square meters of warehouse with two temperature-controlled cells
- Environmental sustainability, automation and traceability are the key services of the new project
DHL Supply Chain Italy, a company of the Deutsche Post DHL group specialized in the management of integrated logistics services for businesses, inaugurates a new hub completely dedicated to Pharma retail in Livraga (Lodi).
An important investment, in a historical and complex moment for many companies, in which the logistics sector is increasingly becoming a nerve center for the development of industry and commerce.
A hub of 50,000 square meters, within which approximately 200 direct and indirect staff work.
Located in a strategic area, overlooking one of the main communication and transport routes in northern Italy (A1), it will be able to handle over 600,000 deliveries a year.
The new fully air-conditioned site at a temperature of 15-25 ° C allows the optimal management of different specialties and pharmaceutical classes, based on the different technical, temperature and hazard requirements. The flagship of the site are two temperature-controlled cells, one at 2-8 ° C and a Warm Room at 18-25 ° C; both made according to an "Integrated Cold Chain Concept" within which the activities of inbound, storage, processing / set-up and outbound are carried out, thus ensuring constant temperature maintenance. 3,800 square meters are also reserved for the very high security “segregation area” for quarantined, returned and narcotic products.
An area was intended for the pharmaceutical workshop - for secondary packaging - and, as a further distinctive feature of the site, there is also a bunker for the storage of flammable products of about 700 square meters with a dual temperature range: 4-8 ° C and 15-25 ° C.
“In such a complicated historical moment, we are proud to have been able to build the new Livraga Campus”, says Antonio Lombardo, CEO of DHL Supply Chain Italy. "An important signal of investment and development in the country, in a sector - the pharmaceutical one - which today is facing increasingly complex challenges and which in recent months has seen us working alongside the pharmaceutical industry, pharmacies and hospitals. ".
To characterize the new logistics campus, in line with the Group's GoGreen business strategy, also a series of cutting-edge solutions from the point of view of energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. A completely anti-seismic structure, high insulation throughout the warehouse, photovoltaic panels, LED lights with motion sensors, consumption monitoring through dedicated software and charging columns for electric vehicles.
Livraga counts on the main international certifications to ensure the best efficiency and the highest performance: quality standards (ISO 9001 certifications), quality management of medical devices (ISO 13485), environment and energy consumption (ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certification - in plan end 2021), health and safety (ISO 45001, TAPA FSR level A certifications) and Business Continuity (ISO 22301). The site therefore operates according to the BCM- Business Continuity Management protocol to ensure business continuity even in the event of adverse events.
