Are shipments below a certain value exempt from taxes and duties in Canada?

Under the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), taxes and duties do not need to be paid on shipments imported to Canada from the U.S. or Mexico by courier if they are worth CAD$40 or less. Shipments with a value over CAD$40 but not exceeding CAD$150 are duty-free, but taxes still apply. Are there restrictions on what can be sent to Canada?

When sending items like food or perishable items, you may need to provide a permit or certificate in order to send them. A customs broker can help you determine if the goods you want to send are subject to a certification or inspection process.

What paperwork do I need to fill out to ship packages from the U.S. to Canada?

To ship internationally, you will need a commercial invoice, a bill of lading, an air waybill, a Certificate of Origin and any necessary export and import licenses.
