Every second, the equivalent of one garbage truck of textiles is landfilled or burned, while just 1% of the material used to produce clothing is recycled into new clothing.
To address the significant issue of waste in the fashion industry, the local NGO Redress has been organizing the "Redress Design Award" since 2011. This competition aims to educate designers about the negative environmental impacts of fashion and inspire them to incorporate sustainable design techniques such as zero-waste, upcycling, and reconstruction to minimize waste in the industry.
Proud Partner of Redress Design Award 2024
This year, DHL Express is proud to be the official logistics partner of “Redress Design Award 2024”. Using our GoGreen Plus (GGP) service, we will transport the sustainable fashion collections created by 10 finalists from 9 different countries and regions using textile waste to Hong Kong for the Final on September 5, 2024, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Additionally, we will be supporting the Redress Design Award Alumni booth at CENTRESTAGE, which will take place from 4 - 7 September 2024. Six talented alumni will have the opportunity to showcase their emerging sustainable brands.

Redress Design Award 2024
The winner of the Redress Design Award 2024 is Tiger Chung from Hong Kong, whose competition collection ‘The Wanderer’, reflects on the wealth disparity in fashion, and is inspired by the unique clothing and lifestyles of ‘street wanderers’. The collection uses upcycled materials including commonly discarded items such as towels and curtains from hotels, felt from airports, car seat covers, and discarded sofas and mattresses.

DHL GoGreen Plus Alumni Prize
To further support the development of local sustainable fashion designers, DHL partnered with Redress to launch the “DHL GoGreen Plus Alumni Prize” this year. This prize challenged the Redress Alumni designers to upcycle retired DHL uniforms into a corporate gift, accessory, or fashion piece to extend the life of the garments.
The winner, Angus Tsui, is the Redress Design Award Hong Kong 2012 cycle People’s Award winner. He launched his namesake sustainable womenswear and menswear brand in 2014, which is created using zero-waste, upcycling, and reconstruction design techniques. Stay tuned for more details of this upcycling collaboration.
