Junk Kouture Students Visit DHL Express Ireland’s Dublin HUB

Picture this: a group of talented young designers from Swords Community College stepping into the heart of DHL Express Ireland’s bustling Dublin HUB. For many, it’s their first glimpse behind the scenes of a global logistics powerhouse. But the experience didn’t stop there—the day was also packed with eye-opening lessons on innovation, sustainability, and teamwork.

Behind the Scenes at DHL Express Ireland

The day kicked off with a warm welcome, as students from Swords Community College were invited to explore how DHL Express Ireland keeps the world connected through its vast network. From real-time logistics demonstrations to insights into how DHL’s operations run seamlessly, the experience offered a rare glimpse into the engine room of one of the world’s leading logistics companies.

But it didn’t stop there. The spotlight quickly shifted to DHL’s commitment to sustainability, a value that resonates deeply with Junk Kouture’s ethos of eco-friendly fashion and creative reuse. Talks from DHL’s Infrastructure & Sustainability team revealed exciting plans to achieve zero emissions by 2050, showcasing projects like the introduction of e-cargo planes, electric vans, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

We were also thrilled to be joined by the talented World Finalist team @inferno_attirejk, who showcased their incredible design ahead of the Junk Kouture World Final on March 4th. Their stunning outfit—crafted entirely from recyclable materials—was a powerful reminder that fashion, creativity, and sustainability can go hand in hand.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Changemakers

DHL’s First Choice, HR, and Marketing & Sponsorships teams led engaging sessions on key topics like problem-solving techniques and sustainability-driven innovations, offering students practical insights within DHL.

A particularly memorable session covered carbon-neutral buildings, solar energy, and smart lighting systems—technologies that align with DHL’s drive to reduce carbon emissions and optimise energy use.

The Marketing team also provided a crash course on how to harness the power of social media for brand storytelling and project promotion, encouraging students to think big and use these tools to elevate their own Junk Kouture creations. From there, the conversation shifted to DHL’s diverse sponsorships with Munster Rugby, IRFU, FAI, Bohemian FC, and, of course, Junk Kouture, highlighting how these partnerships help DHL connect with communities and promote positive change.

For many, it was a rare opportunity to witness logistics in action, leaving them inspired .

As the day wrapped up, there was time for plenty of photos—including one standout moment when @inferno_attirejk posed in their sustainable outfit amidst DHL’s busy HUB. The image perfectly captured the essence of the day: a celebration of creativity, innovation, and a shared commitment to a greener future.

We are proud to support these young changemakers on their journey and can’t wait to see how they’ll continue to push boundaries and bring their visions to life on the global stage.
