Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, many governments enforced travel bans and stay-home restrictions – limiting movement between countries. Meaning that we may have family, friends, or loved ones distanced from us. In Singapore, although the Circuit Breaker has ended and we are safely re-opening our country, we must still remain vigilant, united and considerate to cull the spread of the virus completely.
At DHL Express, we recognize the pivotal role we play in allowing people to feel closer to home. Our goal is to ensure that families and loved ones are able to stay connected by sending and delivering parcels of gifts as an act of care and support.

INDONESIA COUNTRY REGULATION
The Government of Indonesia has issued two regulations to provide relief for the importation of PPE and medical items related to Covid-19 in the form of free permit and free import duties and taxes.
1. National Disaster Management Authority (Badan Nasional Penganggulangan Bencana – BNPB) issued an Exemption for Import Permits for Importation of Goods Related to Covid-19 through courier companies. All imported goods which are listed below can be imported without any permit, provided that the goods description is clearly mentioned and the quantity doesn’t exceed the maximum quantity stated in the regulation.

2. The Ministry of Finance issued a new regulation PMK number 34/2020 on Fiscal and Tax Facilities on Customs and/or Excise for the Importation of Covid-19 PPE & medical items
Under this regulation, shipments with the value of up to USD 500 will be given free import duty and taxes, provided that the importer/consignee fulfill the following requirements:
· Shipment description are related to COVID 19 medical equipment as stated in the annex of the regulation
· Tax registration Number (NPWP)
The full text of the regulation is available in Bahasa Indonesia and can be downloaded here.
AUSTRALIA COUNTRY REGULATION
If face masks are claiming to be of surgical quality, they will require a TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) Import Permit. Even face masks that do not make such claims (and do not have TGA Import Permits) are still getting held by the ABF (Australian Border Force) for *EMPP and referral to the TGA for review and assessment. Due to this there are delays with clearance, the ABF will lift the holds if there are no issues with TGA.
*EMPP – Evidence of Monies price paid, this is a clearance hold where ABF want to see proof of monies paid for the masks to ensure the correct value has been declared.
The import requirements for face masks into AU can be found here (if the face masks claim to be for ‘surgical use’ they will require a TGA Import Permit).
