DHL PARCEL EMPLOYEES DONATED BLOOD FOR ULTRAKRWI
Press Release: Warsaw, February 05, 2020
The fourth winter edition of the ULTRAKREW initiative came to an end; its goal is to promote blood donation and sports activities. DHL Parcel was the partner of the event for the second time.
The idea of ULTRAKREW is to encourage the society to honorary blood donation. As part of this year's edition, the blood drive in the whole country lasted throughout January. The event also had its sports section: namely a speed walk, the route of which led along the Polish coast. A group of speed walkers set off on 13 January from Świnoujście and after 7 days they reached the Polish-Russian border in Piaski. The speed walkers covered the distance of over 500 km, encouraging people whom they met on the beach to blood donation.
Employees of DHL Parcel were also active participants of the initiative. On Thursday, 28 January, a group of several people set off to the Regional Blood Donation and Haemotherapy Centre at ul. Saska to donate blood. Most people did it for the very first time, even though there were also Honorary Blood Donors in the DHL Parcel group.
"We usually realise the importance of blood donation when this problem affects us or people close to us directly. ULTRAKREW is an important national initiative which we joined with full conviction. Social engagement follows from our feeling of responsibility and is deeply rooted in the values of our organisation," claims Magdalena Bugajło, PR & Communications Director at DHL Parcel.
Over 1,000 litres of blood were donated during the 4 editions of the event, and it was used by over 7,000 persons in need.
