DHL PARCEL SUPPORTS THE FIGHT AGAINST CORONAVIRUS

DHL Parcel became involved in the social initiative "Warsaw Sews Masks for Health Care Workers." For almost two weeks, DHL Parcel couriers have been delivering protective masks to Warsaw hospitals and medical facilities.

The coronavirus epidemics caused huge problems with availability of basic PPE, including face masks, in the whole country. Polish seamstresses decided to alleviate this difficult situation. Social initiative "Polish Seamstresses Sew Masks for Health Care Workers" was launched in mid March. The "Warsaw Sews Masks for Health Care Workers" group is the local coordinator of the initiative in Warsaw and the neighbouring areas. DHL Parcel has been delivering the masks made by Warsaw seamstresses for almost two weeks.

"Our couriers have already delivered face masks to the Holy Family Hospital in Warsaw, the CMP Hospital in Piaseczno, the National Oncology Centre in Warsaw, the Medical University of Warsaw at ul. Żwirki i Wigury, the Bielański Hospital and the Independent Public Central Clinical Hospital at ul. Banacha. We started with few deliveries per day, but their number has been growing continually, along with the demand for face masks and there are more and more people who want to help. The decision to join the initiative was made immediately, because we treat social responsibility issues very seriously. We are a courier company, therefore it was obvious for us that we had to make our contribution to this noble social initiative and help the seamstresses with deliveries to hospitals. As of now, we are operating in Warsaw, but it is possible that the range of our services will be extended," announces Magdalena Bugajło, PR & Communications Director at DHL Parcel.

Logistic support is a great help for the initiative organisers. Instead of organising transport on their own, they only send an e-mail with a list of addresses, and the rest is handled by DHL Parcel employees. "The proposal of cooperation with DHL Parcel came at one of the most difficult moments for us, when we were trying to solve a number of logistic problems, related to the transport of the masks to the medical facilities. It turned out that DHL Parcel couriers are not only capable of delivering them to hospitals quickly and efficiently, but they also released us from the obligation of printing labels and generating bills of lading. Such help is invaluable for all of us," says Anna Bąk, coordinator of the "Warsaw Sews Masks for Health Care Workers" group.
